Asbestos Management
Regulation 4 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006 places a duty on the owners on non-domestic buildings to manage Asbestos in their premises.
The Duty Holder must identify materials containing Asbestos and then put in place and regularly review a plan to remove or manage them in good condition.
Asbestos Surveys
Our P402 qualified asbestos surveyors carry out UKAS accredited surveys for our clients in accordance with HSG264. Asbestos surveys are employed to identify asbestos material for management under CAR2006 (Management Surveys) and further intrusive Demolition/Refurbishment surveys are required before demolition or major building alteration work can start.
Asbestos Training
The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006 require employers to provide training for staff who may disturb asbestos materials during their work. This "Asbestos Awareness" training teaches staff about health risks and uses of asbestos and how to work safely around asbestos materials. The half-day course must be refreshed regularly.
Asbestos Abatement
MIS Environmental Ltd assist our clients by designing specifications detailing their requirements and conditions for asbestos abatement work carried out by HSE-licensed asbestos removal contractors. Using our HSE Supervisor Licence, we are able to supervise, control and monitor the activities of such contractors on behalf of our clients.
Air Monitoring
MIS analysts can measure the concentration of airborne asbestos after asbestos is disturbed, removed or discovered in a poor state. 4-stage clearance tests are required by law for issuing a Certificate of Re-occupation after asbestos is removed by a licensed contractor. MIS are accredited by UKAS for this work.
Contaminated Land
MIS Site scientists carry out site testing of brown field sites to identify and measure various hazardous materials including hydrocarbons, heavy metals and asbestos and carry out environmental monitoring throughout remediation, reassuring stakeholders during the process and ensuring the land is safely restored to the client's satisfaction.
