Mechanical Testing

Mechanical testing facilities have been provided by our company since 1982, we have held UKAS accreditation for our services since 1983, i.e. over 20 years experience and accreditation, hence the customer is guaranteed a quality service. View Accreditation Schedule.

A full range of services include:

  • Tensile Testing (+20oC to +999oC) to American and European standards.
  • Charpy Impact Testing (+20oC to -196oC) to American and European standards.
  • Izod Impact Testing
  • Bend Testing
  • Macro and Hardness surveys and determinations
  • Micros and Ferrite Counts
  • Corrosion Testing
  • Weld Procedure/Qualifications

All of our testing equipment has been upgraded to the latest operating systems. Our computerised internal system ensures that our client receives a pdf of the original certificate within 15 minutes of the final tests being carried out.

The majority of tests for foundries and steel stockholders are carried out the same day. As we have in house machining facilities, a quick turnaround of samples can be assured.

Chemical Analysis

Chemical Analysis is carried out using a spectrolab spark emission spectrometer allowing chemical analysis of both carbon and stainless steels.

In addition to the general chemical elements i.e. carbon, silicon, manganese, chromium, nickel etc, and trace elements i.e. arsenic, lead, antimony, the spectrolab is capable of determining nitrogen, boron, calcium and soluble aluminium on steel samples.

Another advantage of the spectrolab is that because there is no vacuum chamber, small to medium size components can be analysed without destroying the component.

All in house chemical analysis is carried out within 24 hours of receiving the sample.

As in everything we do, MIS Limited offers fast, efficient and professional chemical analysis, complimenting our mechanical testing services.
