A conscious effort to increase corporate environmental responsibility
In recent years MIS has made a conscious effort to increase its corporate environmental responsibility. This has seen a change to many of its daily activities and the way we think about the tasks we undertake. As with any change it can take a little getting used to, whether it be remembering to recycle your waste or trying to safely cross our car park without being run over by a silently moving hybrid car. Our environmental champions are pushing us forward toward ISO14001, with our audit due later this month on which we are obviously hoping for success.

HSE to repeal Contractors Guide, Issue New Non-Licensed Contractors Guide.
HSE have accepted the EU's reasoned argument over the licensing regulations and plan to repeal and re-issue the Licensed Contractor's Guide HSG247 in 2012. New non-licensed asbestos regulations will require all minor asbestos repair work on normally licensed materials to be notified. It will not require licenses for this kind of work, however the training and equipment requirements likely to be part of the package may mean more of this work coming to HSE licensed contractors anyway.

MIS Reduces C02 Emissions
As an environmental company it is crucial that we recognise the impact that our business has on the environment and do all we can to control and reduce this. With most of our works being undertaken on site there is a need for personnel to be issued with transportation, and with 51 vehicles on the road we felt there was a need to review our responsibilities.
MIS have over the last 30 years sought to reduce impact by utilising car share wherever possible, and this has worked in many instances, however with a greater need for personnel to travel in and around our cities then another alternative was sought. As such we are pleased to announce the introduction of the latest hybrid cars to our fleet.
Following much deliberation we have selected an initial 12 White Honda Insight Hybrids to be used by staff whose travel is usually limited to less than 25 miles from the nearest office.
